Garcinia Mangostana is an exotic fruit with excellent antioxidant power. Its molecules have the ability to provide electrons to free radicals, converting them into molecules that are not harmful to the organism. Thus favoring the physiological natural defenses of the body

Antioxidants and free radicals: what are they?

A difficult game in our organism based on a subtle game of balance.

Free radicals and oxidants can have a positive role in some situations, in fact in small quantities free radicals have important functions in the maturation processes of cellular structures. Problems arise when the balance between the production of free radicals and the cell’s antioxidant defenses is broken. In the presence of an accumulation of free radicals we speak of oxidative stress, a condition that plays an important role in the genesis and development of a large number of pathologies: atherosclerosis, neurodegenerative diseases, aging, rheumatoid arthritis.

To combat oxidative stress the human body uses antioxidants. These are molecules partly produced by our body and partly acquired through a healthy, balanced diet with a high vegetal component.

A right proportion between free radicals and antioxidants is necessary for a correct physiological balance.

INGREDIENTS: PURE MANGOSTEEN EXTRACT composed of

  • Xanthones (40 types): they are biologically active compounds linked to the polypheol family, scientific studies report their antioxidant action.
  • Catechins: are substances belonging to the group of flavan-3-ols or flavanols, compounds in turn present in numerous woody plants and responsible for the characteristic taste of their products (for example tea) and for some well-known properties reported in scientific literature as antioxidants
  • Polysaccharides: macromolecules that constitute a constant energy reserve at the biochemical level.
  • Tannins: they are chemical substances belonging to the polyphenol family. The properties reported in studies are astringent, anti-inflammatory and antibiotic.
  • Quinine: natural alkaloid in which studies report antipyretic and antimalarial activity.
  • Proanthocyanidins: molecules of the flavonoid class, clinical studies in the literature report their ability to act as scavengers against free radicals and to inhibit lipid peroxidation.
